Privacy Policy
This site, nysolarincentives.org ("we," "us," or "our"), is operated by N.Y Group Media. It publishes free guides to New York solar incentives. This policy says what we collect, what we do with it, and — because an earlier version of this page said otherwise — what we do not do.
We do not sell, rent or share your information with solar installers, contractors or any other company. There is no referral programme on this site, we receive no referral fees, and nothing you send us results in a sales call. An earlier version of this policy described such a service and a consent to marketing calls; that service does not exist here, and the consent it described is withdrawn.
1. What we collect
What you type into the contact form
Your name, your email address and your message. That is the only form on the site. It is stored in this site's own database; it is not e-mailed out, sold, or shared with installers.
What your browser sends
Our server and our network provider (Cloudflare) log the ordinary request data every website receives: IP address, browser and operating system, the page requested and the time. These logs are used to keep the site up and to block abuse, and they are not combined with the contact form to build a profile of you.
Spam protection
The contact form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a submission comes from a person rather than a script. Cloudflare processes that check on our behalf.
2. What we use it for
- Answering the message you sent us.
- Keeping the site available and secure, and blocking spam and abuse.
- Understanding, in aggregate, which guides people read, so we know what to write next.
We do not use it to determine your eligibility for anything, we do not pass it to installers, and we do not send marketing calls, SMS or automated messages.
3. Cookies and tracking
This site sets the functional cookies WordPress needs, and Cloudflare sets its own security cookies. We also use Google Analytics 4 to count, in aggregate, which pages are read; it sets its own first-party analytics cookies (named _ga), with Google signals and ad personalisation switched off. There are no advertising cookies, no retargeting pixels and no third-party advertising platforms on this site.
4. How long we keep it
Contact messages are kept while the conversation is useful and then deleted on request. Server and security logs rotate on a short cycle. Write to us at the address below and we will delete what we hold about you.
5. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, and we will do it. New York and California residents have those rights by statute; we apply them to everyone.
6. Security
The site is served over TLS, and access to the database is restricted to the people who run the site. No site can promise that transmission over the internet is immune to interception, and we do not.
7. Children
This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us something, write to us and we will delete it.
8. Changes
If this site ever does something new with your information — a newsletter, an installer introduction, anything — this page will say so before a form asks for your details, and the "Last Updated" date above will change.
